Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country whose historical circumstances have not always been favorable to its inhabitants. Consequently, Bosnia’s economic growth struggled to follow the economic growth of its western neighbors.

The IT industry is especially important for developing countries interested in seizing new opportunities and increasing the offer of their services on the global market. At the beginning of this century, many IT companies have been founded. Some of them were started by Bosnian citizens who had the opportunity to acquire the latest knowledge in the IT field while living abroad. These companies had a noticeable positive impact on the increase of domestic gross income. Currently, the IT sector in Bosnia earns about 500.000.000 KM annually, where the employees’ average salary is well above the average state salary.

Bosnia and Herzegovina can accelerate its development thanks to a solid base in the IT industry, whose potential has yet to be fully realized. Enhanced cooperation between the government and the IT sector could unlock numerous opportunities and jobs, thus preventing the outflow of educated young people from the country.

For this reason, La Terra Nostra has decided to support the Association for Youth Development and Support Plus Ultra and their ongoing project ‘School of Programming Plus Ultra’, whose main goal is helping young people throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina with learning the fundamentals of programming.
