The project took place from July through the end of December 2025.
The international project Music on the String, founded and artistically shaped in Sarajevo by renowned violinist Violeta Smailović‑Huart, continued its mission in 2025 with a rich blend of concert, educational, and multimedia programs. Over the years, the project has grown from a festival into a distinctive “nomadic” artistic platform that brings together musicians from different countries and connects audiences through classical music, contemporary expression, and open‑format performances.
In 2025, the association Musica ad Hominem delivered seven program segments, including concerts, workshops, master classes, and innovative exhibition‑concert formats. The program reached diverse audiences — from children and young musicians to educators, students, and classical‑music enthusiasts — with a special focus on bringing music into public urban spaces.
The summer cycle “Concerts in Your Street” (17 July, 14 August, 12 September) brought classical music into Sarajevo’s open-air settings and received exceptional public attention, including over 200,000 views of the Štrosmajerova Street performance on Klix.ba. Featured artists included Violeta Smailović‑Huart, Meira Smailović, Ilan Huart, Farah Sijarić, Hasan Muratović, and Suzana Bevanda, performing works by Bach, Kreisler, Chopin, Shostakovich, Piazzolla, and Avdo Smailović, as well as excerpts from the audiovisual project Music Patchwork.
The December program expanded the project’s interdisciplinary dimension. The three‑day exhibition‑concert MINP – Money Is Not a Problem (18–20 December), created by Nedžad Begović and Violeta Smailović‑Huart, blended music, visual art, and conceptual performance, attracting strong public interest.
Educational activities included an international master class for young violinists (18–23 December) led by Violeta Smailović‑Huart, gathering 10 award‑winning participants from six countries, and the violin workshop SISTEM (19–22 December), which engaged 20 students, 5 teachers, and parents in collaborative learning.
Concert highlights of the December cycle included TRADICIONAL (21 December), continuing one of the project’s signature formats, and Violino Virtuoso (22 December), showcasing young violinists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Türkiye, Switzerland, and Slovenia, with piano collaboration by Meira Smailović and Kanae Endo.
The program also embraced its youngest audience through the festive children’s event “New Year’s Fairy Tale” (22 December), reinforcing the project’s commitment to early arts education.
Through its 2025 edition, Music on the String reaffirmed its role as an international artistic platform that nurtures classical music, supports young talent, encourages interdisciplinary creativity, and brings high‑quality cultural content closer to the wider public — successfully bridging tradition and innovation, education and performance, local context and global collaboration.
